Da Vinci Code - "an affront to Christian belief, a tissue of lies and fabrications and a lurid exercise in cynical exploitation"?

Christian groups in many Asian nations have stepped up their protests against The Da Vinci Code film

Maybe it is not your sort of film or maybe it is.
I'm going to see it to form my own opinion as to its impact.

Is it misleading and/or offending large sections of the population or doing Christians a favour by opening a debate and bringing the church much-needed publicity?
For the parents of teenagers it certainly gives an opportunity to dialogue!
